Locked out of my account

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,
I am locked out of my account as my domain expired and I no longer have access to the domain/email on my account so I cannot perform a forgotten password.
I can’t work out how to get in to my account or get support to reset it.
Can anyone guide me in the right direction?
    Rob

    Hi,
    Thank you for your reply.
I am not sure of my domain URL.
I had to create a login as that is what Woocommerce use for authentication.
I can provide my old email address and new email address if that helps?

    Hi there,

If you have WooCommerce installed on a WordPress.com Business Plan or have a paid WooCommerce extension on a self-hosted site you can open a ticket while logged into your account at:

    https://woocommerce.com/my-account/create-a-ticket/

But, if your site is self-hosted and built using the WordPress.org open software, you’ll need to seek assistance from their forums which can be found at:

    https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/woocommerce

These forums are for WordPress.com hosted websites. If you want to know the difference between the two, you can find more information in this document:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

    Hope this helps.

Honestly you wouldn’t believe how many hours I have now expended trying to resolve this issue. I have been in contact with Woocommerce and they used WordPress.com for authentication. I changed my email address on my Woocommerce account but I forgot to change it on my WordPress.com account and now there is an email mismatch between the two systems.
When I try to login either on Woocommerce which uses WordPress.com for authentication or WordPress.com directly my account is locked (tried too many times to guess the password)
I cannot perform a forgotten password because the email on the WordPress.com account is the old email not the new email and now someone else owns that expired domain.
    I am stuck.

  • Hi Rob,

    this sounds so frustrating!
We can help you regaining access to your WordPress.com account – if that’s what you need, send us an email to passwordhelp@wordpress.com – our Account Recovery team will get back to you.

It’s difficult to advise better without knowing the domain in question. If you’re not able to access a site that is hosted elsewhere, you will want to read the Codex article “Resetting Your Password”:
    https://wordpress.org/support/article/resetting-your-password/

    Dear Fresatomica,

You’re, right, it has been so far – but you’ve just helped immensely by providing the email address.

Thank you, I’ll get onto it right away.

    Regards,

    Rob
