Locked out of my website admin, haven't received email for PW Reset

  Hello, I am locked out of my website admin page. My url is http://danamcneely.com/wp-login.php

  I wrote down my logon and password, but they are not being accepted. I clicked the “forgot password” button in case I had changed my password and then forgot :( but I did not receive an email with a reset link. What is my next step?

  http://danamcneely.com/ is using self-hosted WordPress.org on another web host.

  This support channel handles assistance to WordPress.com hosted sites only. Try to get some help in the support forums at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ or contact the support team of your web hosting provider to help you reset your password.

  Hi @danamcneely!

  I’d be happy to help. There are a few things you can do for yourself to try and get back in.

  Sometimes the server just times out and you have to try again, so go ahead and try again and see what happens. If that doesn’t work, try following the steps outlined in this support doc. https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/

  If those steps don’t work, there is an Account Recovery Form in that document which will allow staff to get involved and help you further.

  Well…I’m still worried, @gregariousbadger and @akumarjain. :(

  I will contact the host as you suggested, but I’m confused because it was a WordPress dialogue box to access my WordPress site’s admin that refused my password.

  @danamcneely, WordPress comes in two flavors. WordPress.com provides managed WordPress hosting. WordPress.org provides free open source WordPress software which you can use with any web host and build your blog/ site. I can understand it’s little confusing.   WordPress.org support is available on https://wordpress.org/support/

  As @akumarjain mentioned, your site is self-hosted and part of the .org platform offered by WordPress, so it makes sense that the .com dialogue box is not accepting your password.
