Locked Out of Two Step Process
-
I got locked out of my WordPress account “chobojiseattle” when I upgraded my phone and the authenticator codes no longer worked from my new phone.
I tried resting my WordPress password, which worked just fine, but this did not resolve the authenticator issue.
The account was set up in November of 2012 by a student of mine and I don’t know what email he used to set up the account.
However, I’m in contact with him and have asked him to look for the original WordPress activation URL or key to help identify myself, but so far he has been unable to find it.
If I printed backup codes, and I’m not sure I did, I can’t find them.
I have a newsletter I need to get out and I can’t get into my account can you please help.
The account is chobojiseattle and the password has just changed to …. (I sent to darnelldibbles via email)
To help identify myself the code to update my password was sent to by SMS to my phone at 9:44AM this morning from 415-390-2137 the code itself was 09454112. I used this code to update my password this morning.
When I tried to get a recovery verification code using
“Send recovery code via text” nothing happened no text was sent to my phone. Obviously, my phone is connected to the account because I got the reset password text. Please help!

I’m using zenquker88 as a way to ask for support, again because I can’t log in using the two step process.

Hey @Genjo,
I contacted the e-mail associated with chobojiseattle, not zenquker88.
You may need to contact the student of yours in order to receive the e-mail, for I needed to contact that e-mail to verify ownership.
If you need to transfer the blog from your student’s account to yours, you can follow the directions on our support page:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!

Got your message. Not sure what the email problem is but it is not coming through. I’ve checked spam and don’t see it. Then again every email I have EVER used doesn’t appear to be associated with chobojiseattle, http://chobojiseattle.wordpress.com The only thing I can think of is that it might be under an email my student used to set it up for me.
I’m forwarding your emails to him to see if he knows the email he used.
Can you share with me the type, i.e. gmail, yahoo, etc?

Hey @Genjo,
Can you share with me the type, i.e. gmail, yahoo, etc?
I cannot due to security reasons. The best bet is to contact your student and see if he remembers the e-mail he used when setting up the account.
For more information on recovering your account, please visit our support page:
Thanks!

Also – If he finds the e-mail I sent, have him respond to that e-mail instead of my personal business e-mail. I’d be better equipped to assist you from that e-mail.
Thanks!

My student Peter writes…
“Genjo,
I’m afraid I haven’t received any emails at any of my address. If it was associated with my (email visible only to moderators and staff) account, however, that account is permanently disabled. However, I don’t think that was the case because I wasn’t using that email address during that period of my life.
-Peter”
Darnel, not sure how to proceed.

Peter’s email might have been associated with Princeton. But if that is the case it has permanently been disabled as he has moved on and graduated.

Besides sending an account recovery request to WordPress.com, is there a faster way to recover my account? Just this morning, I was locked out of my http://ricehopper.wordpress.com account after WordPress has successfully imported the xml back-up file.
The domain for this account is: http://ricehoppers.net which needs to be mapped to http://ricehopper.wordpress.com. Need to log in to my wordpress.com account to deal with domain mapping. Will appreciate your help.

In regards to fergusontalks.wordpress.com
Hello. I am sending this post in regards to a problem I have in accessing my main blog. I have created this account so I could post my problem in the forums, because I am unable to login to my primary blog.
The final step in the authentication process is where I am not getting access. It is sending a code to the old phone number that I no longer have associated with my account. I have changed numbers and service providers and I need to add the new number to the account.
I desperately need access back to my blog, as I have been locked out of it for almost a month now.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I filled out the account recovery request form as well, and I am always getting to the final step where it sends an authorization code via text, but like I said, I no longer have access to that number.

@neckbracesub – be on the lookout for an email.
@devcompage – it looks like your issues were solved by another means of contact.
