Locked out of website due to plugin virus
-
Hey, slightly panicking here, but dont’ know where else to go right now, I can’t get into my WordPress site from the backend, or the front end. Either way I get the same message both times:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘ in /home/content/95/11527795/html/wp-content/plugins/sydney-toolbox/sydney-toolbox.php on line 103. With no option to click or do anything, its like writing on a piece of paper. I updated two plugins last night which may have caused this but I’m not sure how to fix it or get it back up and running, or get in. I also don’t know how to contact support. Please help! It’s http://www.HelainaHovitz.com -
Hi there, that appears to be a plugin conflict issue.
Your domain name (http://www.HelainaHovitz.com) is registered under GoDaddy. May I know if your site is a premium site on WordPress.com or self-hosted on GoDaddy?

Hi helainah,
helainahovitz.com was created with WordPress.org software and is hosted by GoDaddy, rather than WordPress.com:
We can only help with WordPress.com sites here so please contact GoDaddy if you are unable to login to helainahovitz.com at all. If they provide FTP access, you could try removing the Sydney Toolbox plugin that way — the error message you shared suggests this one is causing the problem.
The WordPress.org support forums are a great resource for self hosted sites so I recommend posting there if you still need help after speaking to GoDaddy:

Best of luck getting your site working again.
staff-zara — you can check where a site is hosted with a WHOIS search on the domain :)

Hi @gemmacevans, thanks for sharing! I’ll study more on the output shown on whois to try to differentiate self-hosted and WordPress.com sites. :)

staff-zara — you’re welcome! Feel free to add the modlook tag to any threads where you would like us to confirm whether a site is hosted on WordPress.com.
