Locked out of wp-admin by incorrect wordpress site address in settings
-
Hi,
I’m an inexperienced wordpress user, and I’ve managed to inadvertently lock myself out of wp-admin.
I recently installed wordpress, created a blog post and was able to see it by using <my site>/blog. I could make adjustments, update and the changes would take effect and I coudl view them from my own site.
I then added jetpack to wordpress and my blog post was not able to be accessed any more.
If I tried to access my blog (as I had before) by adding ‘blog/’ at the end of my own site address and IE9 or Safari would simply display a 404 code. My blog post was still at wordpress but was not able to be accessed from my site any more.
Because entering the ‘<my site>/blog’ was bringing up my site index page, I thought that amending the wordpress site address in settings, by adding ‘/blog’ as a suffix would sort this out. (this was my big mistake). I anticipate lots of knowing laughter at this point.
I then found that not only did my blog not appear (as before), but I could no longer access wp-admin. When I now try to access wp-admin it shows a 404 page because (I assume) it is looking for wp-admin in <my site>/blog instead of <my site>.
If I log in to my wordpress account, and try to access wp-admin the same thing happens, which means I can’t access wp-admin to amend the wordpress site address. Effectively I’m locked out whichever way I try.
Can someone please tell me how I can either, amend or restore my wordpress site address in settings, reset wordpress to default values, or completely remove wordpress and start again.
I then of course have my old problem of not being able to access my blog, when I had been able to pre jetpack, but this would be relative bliss compared to this lock out.
Any help gratefully appreciated. IS.

Sounds like you might need to be over here:
For more on the differences, see: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
There’s also a separate board for Jetpack support:

Thanks notawoodpecker.
I followed advice in http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL:
1. I added ‘define(‘RELOCATE’,true);’ to my wp-config.php file.
2. I ran wp-admin.php with an absolute url a couple of times.
3. I then logged in at WordPress login and was able to access wp-admin and my settings.I found that my home and site addresses had reset to default values.
I then removed the addition from wp-config.php.IS.
