Lodestar: Column breaks
-
Greetings from Puerto Vallarta!
I just discovered this theme and love the ability to assign panels to the static home page, and then determine if your content will be displayed in one or two columns. My question is: When selecting two columns, is it possible to insert a column break in the text?
My home page content is bilingual, so I want to make sure that the columns break when one language switches to another. I’ve managed to do this through trial and error entering extra paragraph returns, but I’m wondering if there is a more formal way to address this.
Thanks!

Hi there – I see what you’re trying to do!
There isn’t a way to easily designate which content goes in each column – it’s something that’s determined dynamically via the theme’s coding, and would need to be overriden with custom CSS.
I can propose one workaround for you, though.
First, you’d switch the layout back to 1-column.
Then you could create the columns manually within each panel. Example:
<div style="display:block;float:left;width:45%;"> <p>My name is Paco Ojeda. After almost two decades living in the US, I returned to Mexico in 2001 and settled in Puerto Vallarta, where was privileged to oversee editorial content at Vallarta Lifestyles Media Group for fifteen years, during which I enjoyed recording and describing my surroundings with words and images. I now collaborate independently with local organizations, empowering them with innovative communication and promotion solutions.</p> </div> <div style="display:block;float:right;width:45%;"> <p>Mi nombre es Paco Ojeda. Ahora colaboro independientemente con organizaciones y empresas locales, proponiendo soluciones creativas e innovadoras a sus retos de comunicación.</p> </div>The columns will shrink on as the screen gets narrower, and will be hard to read on small devices.
This about as good as I think we can get without custom CSS! Let me know if you have any questions.

I forgot to mention that you’ll first need to flip to the HTML editor to add the code above.

Hola! I appreciate the suggestion, but I wouldn’t want to compromise readability in small devices. I’ll continue to play with carriage returns, tho.
Thanks again!
