Lodestar featured image for testimonial archive page
-
Hi,
I am not sure if it is me and I have misunderstood but I would like the testimonial archive page to have a featured image in the header area.I have set the image in Customisation but the image I set doesn’t appear in the header but as an image at the top of the page. Instead the general header image appears in the large heading area.
If I don’t specify a header image in Customisation. then the header area is left blank and black.
See here:
https://rce719.wordpress.com/testimonial/I also thought that a visitor to the testimonial archive page should be able to click somewhere in the individual testimonial boxes to read more of the content when only an excerpt is displayed but this doesn’t seem to be the case. Is this correct?
Otherwise Lodestar is a beautiful theme and is perfect for the site I am building.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Have you consulted this page https://wordpress.com/theme/lodestar where the theme set up instructions are found
The recommended Featured Image size is at least 2000 wide by 1200 tall. The theme will scale and crop the images depending on the page and device size.
The recommended Custom Header image size is at least 2000 wide by 1200 tall.Activating Testimonials and Setting Testimonials Per Page

Hi there,
I would like the testimonial archive page to have a featured image in the header area.
Are you referring to the image at the top of this testimonial page (currently desk and chairs) on the Lodestar theme demo site?
https://lodestardemo.wordpress.com/testimonials-page/
I also thought that a visitor to the testimonial archive page should be able to click somewhere in the individual testimonial boxes
Each testimonial is displayed in full on your Testimonials page — but it doesn’t contain an actual link through to a single testimonial.
However, testimonials do have their own pages. For example, your testimonial from Jonathon is displayed on this page:
https://rce719.wordpress.com/testimonial/jonathon-suffolk/
You can find the URLs in My Sites > Testimonials.
Come back to me if you have any questions.

Yes that’s right. I get either the grey horse which is the site’s header image – see here my testimonial archive page or if I don’t set a header image a blank black heading area. The featured image I am trying to set is the horse and riding boot which appears at the top of the page.

I don’t believe the testimonial is shown in full on the testimonial ARCHIVE page as you can see from the above page, the first testimonial has been cut of with
[...]but there is nowhere for visitors to click to see the whole
comment.I know the whole testimonial appears on the testimonial page where the testimonial page type is selected (as used on the front page of my site) but I didn’t want to use that page as a single testimonial page as I wanted to have a featured image on the individual page but not on the front home page so thought I would have a link on the menu item to testimonial ARCHIVE instead.

Hi @earthgripper!
It looks like the demo site and your own site have a slightly different Testimonial setup :)
While your site is using the automatically generated page at https://rce719.wordpress.com/testimonial
The demo site is using a page with the theme’s Testimonial Page Template, which is formatted a little differently from the auto generated page.
– Create a new page (name it “Testimonials” or anything else that you’d like it to be called).
– Under Page Settings > Page Attributes, select the Testimonial Template
– Set the Featured Image you’d like to see, under Page Settings > Featured ImagePublish your page, and then add it to your menu and you should be good to go!
