Lodestar Theme – Blank Area Below the Main Manu
-
I keep getting a blank space below the main menu when my homepage first loads. When I hit refresh it disappears, but will happen again when I visit the site. Seems to only happen in Chrome (ver. 57) right now. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this and knows how to fix it. Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @bradchubbs!
I’ve reloaded your page several times and I’m not seeing the gap (also in chrome).
When this happens, is the first image missing? Or is the image loading, and there’s a space between it and the menu?
If it does happen again, maybe you can grab a screenshot? :)

Thanks for the screenshot – I was able to recreate it after some more testing.
I asked one of our designers to look at the part of the theme that calculates the height of the header, and it should be fixed now – can you give it a try and let me know when how it looks? :)

Hello! I am having the exact same problem with the blog hollieblog.com. Don’t think this problem is isolated to one blog and might be an issue with the theme itself.
Thanks for your help!

Glad it’s looking better @bradchubbs!
Hey @holliesarahw!
It looks like your gap is being triggered by the custom font. Lodestar calculates the height of the header as the page loads. In your case, the custom font is loading a little bit slower than that calculation takes – so the theme sees the default font while it’s calculating, but then a smaller font loads, leaving a gap.
I’ve opened up a bug report so the design team can look into a solution – we’ll post here with an update when we have one!

Hi @hollieshaw!
Thanks for reporting this issue with Lodestar. The theme has been updated to check the header height again after the custom font is loaded, to make sure it’s correct.
Unfortunately, there will still be a glimpse of the gap when you first visit a page on the site, while everything is being loaded. It will quickly fix itself though.
Just let us know if you have any questions at all about the above, or if you run into anything else we can help with!
