Lodestar theme — Categories not showing up on posts

I’ve just started using the Lodestar theme, and so far I liked it. But when I checked some of my blog posts, it appears that the categories on blog posts are missing.
It supposed to show “Posted [date] by [author] in [category]” (like in the theme’s live demo), but instead it’s just “Posted [date] by [author]”. I already checked the “Display categories” option on the Content Options, and it still wouldn’t show up.
I was thinking if it is a bug or I need to customize the theme’s CSS (which is impossible at the moment since I’m not using a premium plan and I’m not considering purchasing one).The blog I need help with is twatkcox.wordpress.com

Hey there,
I am using the Lodestar theme for my site and it appears/disappears properly in mine using the Content Options. I cannot think of why it should appear on mine but not on yours.
Can you please try clearing your browser cache and try again. Also, can you please check if you have assigned the proper categories to the posts that you want to display it in.

I’ve already done these and nothing worked. Besides, I have no problems with assigning proper categories to my posts and, they appeared properly when using other themes. I don’t see why my posts won’t show categories next to the author name.
Again, I tried everything just to make it appear on every post, but it still won’t appear. I checked and unchecked the “display categories” option on Content Options, but nothing happened (everything else worked fine). That’s the only problem I’m having right now.

It’s best to bring it to staff’s attention then so that they can take a closer look and help you out.

Hi kcox105,
I’ve checked your site and I can’t see any reason why the categories wouldn’t be displayed — that option is ticked in the My Site > Design > Customise > Content Options.
The same happens on my test site, which suggests this could be a bug so I’ve asked our developers to take a look.

On a test site with Lodestar activated I just now found that the assigned category or categories displayed in the metadata on single posts, the blog page, and on archives pages.

Any updates regarding my concern?
Right now, I’m trying different other themes, but I didn’t like any of them (aside from the ones I’ve previously used). I’m planning to stick with the Lodestar theme. But if I can’t force the categories to show up on my posts, then I have no choice but to find another theme.
Categories are as crucial as tags, and being the perfectionist I was, I want to make sure that they appear in every posts.

@musicdoc1 — thanks for testing! Categories aren’t being displayed in any of those places on mine and one of developers experienced the same (even though categories are displayed on the theme demo site). At the moment, we’re not sure what is causing a difference between sites but hopefully some more digging will uncover the cause.
@kcox105 — this is something our developers need more time to look at. I appreciate you are waiting for news but we’ll post an update in this thread when we have some :) -
Just wanted to let everyone know that I tested this in two of my sites.
One where I had activated Lodestar theme long back and is still in use, and the one where I just activated lodestar theme to test.
I can switch on or off categories from Customizer in both and it doesn’t seem to be a problem for me.I am not sure and might be wrong but I was wondering if it had to do something with the account settings or something?

staff-arya — I’m not sure, I just activated the theme and did some customizations to it, and everything on the Content Options is checked (including categories). I only discovered the problem a few days after that.

Thanks for your help with testing too staff-arya. I’m a little perplexed to be honest. I’ve changed all the settings I can think of but still not had any luck. After much head scratching, I think we’re all equally as curious to know why.
