Lodestar theme header images

  • Unknown's avatar

    I’m using panels for the home page (Company page) so I have Feature Images assigned to the corresponding pages that appear as panels.

    What I can’t figure out, is how to have those Feature Images for each page appear at the top of the individual page. Instead, the Header Image I added to the theme is appearing on as the Header Image on every page.

    How do I further customize to give each page a different header image?
    Thank you!

    Hi,

    Hmmm, I don’t know why your featured images aren’t displaying on the individual pages. Try this…
    At Customize > Content Options > Featured Images, make sure that the “Display on pages” box is checked. If it is not, then check the box, save the change, and see if that resolves the issue.

    @absurdsville

    It looks like the issue is you set a global header image in the Customizer, which is overriding any featured image set on individual pages.

    Go into the Customizer and remove the header image set, then edit your “Company” page (which is set as your homepage) and add the header image you had been using globally as the featured image there.

    That should fix the issue. Let us know if you do update that and you’re still seeing the problem.

    @staff-heroponriki,

    Hi. I think that for the benefit of other users we should point out that with regard to the WordPress.com version of the Lodestar theme, a featured image (when assigned) will always be displayed on static pages, single posts, and on posts in the blog and archives page, instead of the header image, as long as the corresponding boxes are checked at Content Options > Featured Images. I have checked to make sure this is still the case on three different test sites with Lodestar applied.

    Is the OP using a different version of the theme?

  • Howdy Folks –

    @absurdsville
    I just had a quick look at the site and it appears that you have ben able to set up the panels for this theme.

    When I click through each page from the site menu, there is the cardiac ultrasound image displayed at the top with each page. I think that’s what you’re referring to when writing:

    What I can’t figure out, is how to have those Feature Images for each page appear at the top of the individual page. Instead, the Header Image I added to the theme is appearing on as the Header Image on every page.

    The first step is to un assign the global header image in the customizer. This way you will be able to add individual images for each page. If you need more help, please write back and let us know.

    @staff-zinnia,

    As I indicated above, I have a global header image set on each of three different test sites with the Lodestar theme applied. In each case, featured images set on static pages, single posts, as well as on the blog and archive pages, display instead of the header image. That’s how the theme is designed to work, but the featured images only replace the header image on Lodestar if the corresponding boxes are checked at Customize > Content Options > Featured Images. Hiding or removing the global header image is not required at all.

    @musicdoc1 – you’re right! Looks like you’re the expert on this particular theme. I hadn’t found those options when testing the featured images. :)

    @absurdsville
    – can you try @musicdoc1’s settings recommendation by going to Customize -> Content Options -> Featured Images and checking the three items under that heading?

    – “Display on blog and archives”
    – “Display on single posts”
    – “Display on pages”

    Then, make sure you save those changes by clicking the blue “Save Changes” button at the top.

    That should take care of this for you.

    Thank you, All.

    Affirmative — simply checking the boxes for “Display…” at Customize -> Content Options -> Feature Images did the trick and displayed the assigned page Feature Images instead of the global header image.

    I appreciate the help.
    Have a great weekend!
