log in and dashboard

I had trouble logging in tonight and finally changed my password to do so. Now my dashboard appears very different and I am not sure if my site is the same or greatly changed? I actually think it was hacked. Recently I had several suspicious comments which I decided not to approve. I need help with site administration now, I guess.

You will need to re-setup the site.
Also, http://www.brendaproulx.com is a site hosted with Bluehost and uses open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org), whereas this forum deals with sites hosted through WordPress.com.
The WordPress.com and WordPress.org sites are completely different: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org
Your hosting provider may be able to help you with your problem as well or you can post the question at the WordPress.org support forums: https://wordpress.org/support/forums

I really appreciate your input. The WordPress.com vs WordPress.org has been confusing to me. However, when I first had trouble logging in, I successfully changed my password through .com not .org Bluehost has been contacted and they were not able to address any of the problems.

When changing the password, was that conducted here: https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword – if yes, this isn’t necessarily the correct place.

At the log-in source you suggest, the first prompt is language. When English is selected, a new page appears and several boxes must be completed. This is not the normal admin log in page and the final step is “Install WordPress” which is not what I need to do.

I see that too.
You would need to reach out to Bluehost support here: https://www.bluehost.com/help whereby they check that the installation is what it should be. They may be even able to help with a restoration if need be.
I hope this points you in the right direction.
