Log in assistance

    We have been using WordPress to log in and edit our emsregion3.org website. The girl that set up the account and has been managing it died last week. When we try to log in using the user id and password she was using, it shows account not active. In trying to recover, it sends us to the emsregion3.wordpress.com website, which is incorrect.

    Hello there,

    This site is not hosted with us on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress software at another hosting provider. This is a bit different to a site hosted on WordPress.com. You can read about these differences here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    It looks like the site is hosted with Hostgator, so the login page would be: emsregion3.org/wp-admin/.

    Because the site is with Hostgator, we do not have access to the site’s Dashboard.

    You could of course migrate over from your current host and use our Business plan! We have information about all that it offers here:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/plan-features/business-plan/ – to help keep everything organised.

    Of course, if you’d prefer not to migrate, our ‘sibling’ plugin Jetpack provides downtime monitoring for free, and you can also purchase the Jetpack backup services too as part of the Jetpack Security package:

    I do use that login page and it sends me to a page that says emsregion3.org can’t handle this request. I don’t know what that means!

    And if we were to migrate over to a new plan that you were discussing will i have to rebuild the website and will our website name change???

    Could you try http://emsregion3.org/wp-login.php instead?

    If you still have trouble, you would need to contact Hostgator for help as they are the ones who would have access to the site and its backend files and can help you reset that login.

    If you can log into the site again, you would be able to migrate your site here without too much updating needed. When you sign up for a new site on the Business plan, we give you a free subdomain that you can use to start moving things over to your new site.

    Then, you can switch your domain over. Once the Business Plan is in place, you would also have access to priority email and live chat support from your account page so they can help you with any questions as you migrate the site over.
