Log in assistance – don’t have access to proof of purchase but do have other info

    Hi there,

    I can’t seem to gain access to my WordPress site through any of the email accounts I would have expected to work.

    I have access to my hosting platform (Hostgator), but I haven’t touched this site in several years so I’m trying to update it for a career change! While I haven’t been able to track down receipts or upgrade codes, I CAN confirm the following info:

    – I have a ‘Your new wordpress’ email record of the installation, including the username and password from that time (of course, neither of these work today).
    – I have all of the Hostgator support/update emails, e.g., from each time Hostgator automatically updates WordPress to the newest version.
    – I have email updates from BackWPup logs.
    – I have emails from the contact form on that site.

    Can any of this info assist me in gaining access to my account?

  • Sounds like you actually need help for a WordPress powered site, not a site hosted at WordPress.com. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are a little separate, and that can be confusing.

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

    You don’t need to recover anything in WordPress.com to use your site on another hosting company. These pages are helpful to learn how to overcome login issues on WordPress powered sites not hosted at WordPress.com:
