Log in on cell

Hi, I upgraded my iPhone 11 to 12. I am logged into my WP account on my cell. My WP blog opens up but I cannot log in so I can not reply to others on my phone.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

Are you using the the phone’s web browser or the official app?

If you say you’re logged in to your account, then you should be able to manage your site. If this doesn’t work, log out and log back in.

Hopefully this is clearer. On my iPhone. When I click into the WP app it shows I’m in. When I log into my WP blog via Safari I’m in. But on my blog (only on my phone) I can not write and I can not see my notifications.

I already rebooted my phone. What else do I need to do to fix the problem?

    Thank you,
    Martie

  • Hi there,

What version of the app do you currently have on your phone. Also, what iOS version are you currently on? What are you seeing when you try to write?

What exactly are you seeing on the app? Are the pages not loading (just seeing a white screen)? Or are buttons greyed out?

If you are not on the most current version of the app, I would update. Otherwise, I would also suggest a fresh install of the app to see if the issues you are having disappear.

    Thanks!

    Hi,
Afraid I still can not write or see notifications on my WP blog on my cell.

I am not sure what version my WP app is. I have deleted it and put it back on my cell again.

I usually go into the actual blog to write through Safari.

    1) I can open the WP app on my phone. I CAN (when I click my pic) see notifications, pages, etc. But CANNOT see a button to write.

    2) when I go into my blog,(via Safari) I can see the site, my book reviews, and the menu but I can NOT see notifications nor am I able to write.

    3) This is a new issue. It began when I upgraded my cell from an iPhone 11 to an iPhone 12.

    4) again, all is fine on my laptop.

Fingers crossed you can help me fix this.

    Thanks,
    Martie

  • Hello there,

Ok, so when going into Safari, clicking on notifications or add a new post, what specifically are you seeing? For instance, a blank space, or some kind of message?

If you’re able to provide a screenshot, this might be point to some clues as to what could be happening there.

A screenshot can be shared via https://snipboard.io/

    Many thanks!

I guess not because this isn’t what I see. I’m getting so frustrated. When I go to log on to my blog on my cell I do not get notifications or a way to write.

  • Hi there,

Perfect I can see your screenshot, so that works great. Thanks for sharing!

When I go to log on to my blog on my cell I do not get notifications or a way to write.

I see that your site is not showing those option when you look on the homepage, but what if you open a second tab, and go to https://wordpress.com in that new tab? Are you able to access your site within Safari by going that way? Or do you see a generic WordPress.com homepage (our company page) and are asked to log in?

Also are you able to clear your Safari App cache and cookies? Apple has a guide that you can follow here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201265

To explain, login issues like this can often be traced back to a “login auth” cookie that has expired or is not working correctly, and thus you are not correctly recognized as logged in. One you clear your cache and cookies though, you will be asked to log in to WordPress.com again, and a fresh cookie is stored.

Does clearing your cache and cookies allow you to proceed with working on your site in Safari on your phone? Thanks for the additional info!

When I use the link you sent me for wordpress.com, I see my blog with menu and notifications.

Does this mean I always have to open my blog on my phone and this way?

    Your help is much appreciated.

  • Hi Martie,

To manage the site, just navigate to WordPress.com in the browser and log into the correct account. Or, you can use the link my colleague sent.

And of course, you’re also welcome to use the app if you prefer. Just be sure you’re logged into this account.

Let us know if you need more help!
