  I usually enter WordPress from a general log in page which askes for my log in name and password. Below it also says “remember me” – ostensibly to save me the trouble of entering the same information every time I want to log in. When I toggle the “remember me” box, nothing happens; that is, the next time I go to the page I have to enter the same information each time.

  Have I mistaken the purpose of the “remember me ” box? If not, why doesn’t it work?

  It’s possible that you’ve got your computer set to clear cookies when you shut down your browser; in that case, it won’t have the identifying cookie on it to enable that recognition to happen.

  Where do I look in order to determine if I have made that type of “cookie” setting?

  Usually in your browser window it’s under Tools or Options or something similarly-named.
