Logged in but Anonymous.

Today, when typing a comment on a WordPress.com site which I have followed for a few years, I noticed the <i>”Leave a reply. (log in optional)” message</i> – yet only seconds earlier I had hit the ‘like’ button and my personal icon had appeared.
So clearly I was already logged on. There was no indication where to go to re-login. I went to my own site and confirmed that I was logged in to WordPress.
Yet when I left a comment it was attributed to “Anonymous”.
How do I avoid this happening if I see this message again?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
