Logged in users unable to comment

I am having an increasing number of issues on my site with registered and logged in WordPress.com user unable to comment on my blog posts.

They report that they confirm they are logged in, write comment, post it, then get a message that they are not logged in. Sometimes logging back in allows them to post, sometimes it does not.

Sometimes their blocked comments go into my Dashboard’s Comments Spam folder, and I am able to approve and release them. Many times I do not see them at all.

I don’t believe this is a browser or machine specific problem since it is being encountered by so many users who have their own individual systems.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there.

By default, WordPress automatically holds a comment for moderation if it contains 2 or more links. A lot of spam comments include a large number of URLs, which could be unwanted. The default setting here is 2, and you can make this higher or lower. If you set this to 0, all comments will be held in moderation, which would be the same as checking Comment must be manually approved in the previous section.

Thanks for the response. However, this is happening regularly with comments that include no URLs at all, and with users who have posted other comments without any problem. It seems to be more of an issue with WordPress not “knowing” whether someone is already logged in or not, not an issue that I can resolve by adjusting Discussion Settings.

I see loads of comments on your site. I wish my own site received a fraction of them. Anyway I assume you realise people don’t NEED to be logged in to WordPress.com to post on your site. I’ve just visited from a different browser and saw a comment box on the latest post. You should be able to adjust discussion settings to allow anyone to post or only logged in users by ticking the appropriate box,

Thanks, themagicrobot. Here’s a screenshot of the current settings for Comments; I haven’t changed these in months, but commenters who are registered and logged in on WP keep getting roadblocks thrown in their way, being asked to log in again and again until they simply give up.

I don’t necessarily want to limit commenting to WP users, but I don’t want to open it up to Anonymous comments either.
