Hi there,
Please help because I think my site has been taken over. I cant login and wordpress is saying it doesnt recognise the user name or email. What can I do?

Hi Janine,

Your website is a self-hosted self-managed WordPress.org installation, in this forum there is only support for managed WordPress.com accounts.

If you’re not sure what the difference between between WordPress.com and WordPress.org here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

But you will probably want to go straight to the WordPress.org forum and ask for help there: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

Quick suggestion before you go, just in case you haven’t tried it: on your login page there is a little link that says “Lost your password?”, click this and enter your username or email. That should trigger an automatic email from your site with a password reset link.

If you still can’t log in after trying that you will need to go to the WordPress.org forum and ask for help there.
