Logging in and decreasing width of sidebar?
-
Hey folks, I have two simple questions that I hope can be solved and answered rather easily. On my website, I’m using the INove Theme. Without sidebars, I love the size of the page, I love the color scheme, and just the general feel of things. However, I would like to use the sidebar to maybe list the top news articles, subscriptions, a login area, and an area for images.
My problem is that with the sidebar enabled, it takes up a huge chunk of space and makes the page with the articles feel to squished. Is there anyway I can change this? Perhaps keep the full width of the page for the articles and have the sidebar be a bit smaller? If that’s not possible, is there anyway to add a login area to the top bar of the page, as well as subscribing – or maybe there is a theme that handles this better?
Thanks to anyone who can help.

You didn’t specify your blog url. But here is my Idea to build custom menus and add it to your header. You can give your visitors RSS, Recent Posts, Top Posts etc. links and Categories and tags too. Here is the tutorial for you: http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/ And see What I’ve done with it at my blog http://wpgaurav.wordpress.com/ . Try clicking on Tabs below header.

Sorry about that! I thought that if I selected what blog I was posting with, it would display it if you clicked on my username. My url is http://ggimho.com/
So is there anyway to make a custom menu at the top like that that turns it into a login button?

Yes. In Dashboard >Appearance >Menus enter custom address
/wp-adminor/wp-login.phpafter your blog url and name it what you want. Note that this login button will work only for you and WordPress.com does not allow you to create your own users/community . -

Why not! You can do it with Custom Design upgrade. Dashboard >> Appearance >>Custom Design
