When I log in this week, I first get a window that says this:
You are logged in as “snoringdogstudio” and do not not have the necessary privileges to access the dashboard for “WordPress.com”. If you are not “snoringdogstudio”, please log out, and log back in with your username. If you are “snoringdogstudio” and you need access, please ask an administrator of the site to invite you.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I get the feeling this might be another change that they’re bringing in that’s triggered an error. I’m going to modlook this as it’s driving everyone up the wall, me included!

Note to Moderator or Staff: please please look at the other threads too, there are a helluva lot of very displeased people here with this problem and, at least for myself, clearing cache and the other usual culprits, don’t change it at all.

Yeah, I’ve changed it to the https thing and I’ve cleared the history and neither worked. It is so irritating when things have been working and then for no good reason they stop working.

I just set my site up and now I can’t access it. It says I need an administrator to invite me to a chat. Why? I paid my fee already.

Are are the URLs of the blogs you can’t access?

I’ve just tried a variation of what thesacredpath suggested here:
    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/cant-get-into-my-account-frustration?replies=8#post-872069

but I used https instead of http, and it worked fine without the message. I’ve tried this on several of my blogs (I’ve a few, some private which is why I don’t want to put screenshots up) and it’s worked on the ones I tried. But each time I’ve used the old https login I had always used til this error message started just a couple of days ago, I get that same error message. Why doesn’t the old login work now? What changed? And if it isn’t a bug, why the heck wasn’t anyone told? I can’t remember where I found the original one but I did find it via wordpress.com – probably a support page.

The one I’ve been using til this crap started, was:

    https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php

So is that one supposed not to work anymore?

By the way, I have the https thingy turned on in my settings.

The error message by the way is not about any specific blog, it is about ones user name. And I can log in, but get all the stupidity of being told this:
User absurdoldbird Cannot Access the Dashboar Requested

You are logged in as “absurdoldbird” and do not not have the necessary privileges to access the dashboard for “WordPress.com”. If you are not “absurdoldbird”, please log out, and log back in with your username. If you are “absurdoldbird” and you need access, please ask an administrator of the site to invite you.

If you reached this screen by accident and meant to visit one of your own sites, here are some shortcuts to help you find your way:

    Your sites

Art By Val Erde Visit Dashboard/View Site
—–title of blog—– Visit Dashboard/View Site

(and so on with my other blog’s titles)

The ‘not not’ was there – that’s not my error.
Also, “WordPress.com” ‘log out,’ and ‘invite you.’ are links. Stupidly, I didn’t hover over to see what they were.

So – where does this error message come from? To me, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense as the links that are there take me to my blogs. But why do I need to click something to get me to where I should be? If I’m logged in as absurdoldbird (which is me, and I am the adminstrator of all my blogs) then why can’t I go directly to my dashboard without having to click the links.

So what, do I forget about the old login and always log in to one of my blogs or is that an error instead?

Yeah, that actually shouldn’t have worked in the past, so it probably won’t be coming back.

Instead, make sure that you log in through your blog’s Dashboard or http://wordpress.com/

But the dashboard or http://wordpress.com are not secure https logins. So can I use https on those?

I know you’re trying to help, macmanx, and I appreciate it, but this is thoroughly frustrating. All I want is a secure login that works.

http://wordpress.com/ is not https, but the actual login info is passed via https, so it’s still secure.

Actually, I tried https://wordpress.com today and it worked.

    Thanks Macmanx.

    @trickleblog

how do i get the plugin tab to show in my Dashboard?

There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.COM blogs like the one linked to your username and we cannot install individual plugins or third party themes into them. Those found on the internet are for WordPress.ORG installs which run on different software.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/

Please read this do you are clear on the differences between WordPress.com free hosted blogs and WordPress.orgs for self hosting. http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
