  My apologies if this has appeared elsewhere, although I couldn’t find any mention, and for typos (as I’ll explain).

  I made the previous error in updating my windows surface tablet to windows 8.1 and now I can’t log in.

  I can only use IE as browser as all other ones do not appear to be compatible so I can’t check whether this is a browser issue.

  I am being prompted to log in but my username and email address are not recognised which means that I cannot use recover password or account options. I also wasn’t able to access the forum, as you have to be able to log in to do so, but managed to get in via an app linked to my welcome email.
  I can access the blog and support via this app although because I have some problems with my eyes it is not very accessible, such as the text size is very small.

  But basically I need some way of getting hold off my username and password. My email address isn’t recognised and all possible spelling variations of my username don’t seem to be recognised either.

  My best suggestion is for you to fill out the account recovery form providing as much information as you can, and then wait for the account recovery team to contact you via email. Keep in mind it could take a while as it is a weekend, and a long weekend in the US at that. https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery

  Thanks for the suggestion but I’ve tried that and am unable to use it as my username and email address don’t seem to exist

  The account recovery form is exactly FOR situations where your regular username and email doesn’t want to work. That’s why the form allows you to enter a different email where staff can contact you.

  Nevertheless, I’ll tag this for staff to follow up. Please be patient while waiting for a response.

  The WordPress.com username you’re using right now is flippinnora. Is that the account you’re having trouble logging in to? If so, you can reset your password by entering that username in the password reset form here:

  Thanks for suggestions. I’ve managed to resolve the issue by going onto a PC where I can actually see the writing and fiddled with username and passwords and stumbled on the right combo.
