Does the paying option “Personel” (4 € / month) allow to install a password or Login for the whole site (not a multiple pages or one or more articles only) … it’s a blog for an association.

A plug-in like Password Protected does it … is it downloadable? It is not downloadable for free deal.

    Thank you.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, the only plan on WordPressdotcom which allows you to install 3rd party plugins in the Business upgrade plan. https://en.support.wordpress.com/business-plan/

However, you might be able to achieve what you describe by creating a membership site as per this guide (you don’t need to purchase an upgrade plan to do this nor do you need a custom domain). However, all your “members” will also need to create their own WordPressdotcom account in order to access your Private site. https://en.support.wordpress.com/tutorials/build-a-membership-website-tutorial/

Let us know if you have any other questions after giving that guide a read.

Thank you very much for your quick response.

I have read the tutorial and therefore only Personel upgrade plan or Premium upgrade plan or Free plan require members to have a WordPress.com account.

Only the Business upgrade avoids this obligation by the use of a plug in.

    Thank you for this confirmation

I’ve tagged this thread for Staff to clarify that point as it’s been my understanding that anyone wanting to access a Private site on WordPressdotcom, whether the site is using plugins under the Business plan or not, needs to have their own WordPressdotcom account. Thanks for your patience while they get back to you.

  • Hi there,

anyone wanting to access a Private site on WordPressdotcom, whether the site is using plugins under the Business plan or not, needs to have their own WordPressdotcom account.

It depends on the plugin @justjennifer. If they use a plugin like Password Protected, then visitors will only need to enter a password to access the site.
