Login-dependent elements

I’m new to an evaluating WP, so please bear with me.
I would like to set up a web site for my small company that designs and manufactures accessories for microscopes, for microscope manufacturers, suppliers and end-users.
We want to display/restrict pages, page elements/content, links, etc. dependent on a permission level/group for site visitors.

    For instance:
An unidentified visitor should see the product description, but the link to download the manual should be disabled/redirected to a sign-up page. Also, pricing information should not be displayed.
an identified/logged-in visitor should be able to download the manual and see the list price.
A logged-in reseller A should see the dealer price based his discount plan
A logged-in reseller B should see the dealer price based his discount plan and should have access to specific product pages .
A logged-in collaborator should be able to downlaod technical drawings.
    Etc.

Is this possible and if so, how?
Most plugins I find define permissions for contributors/admins/etc. of the site or are gear towards paid-for content…

    Thanks for your help.

  • Hello @beatludin,

Please give us the link of the website you’re working on, so we can check if it’s a WordPress.com site or a self-hosted WordPress.

You can create a membership site in your WordPress.com blog, and limit the access to your contents to members only.

Please check this tutorial: Build a Membership Website Tutorial

If you’re planning on sharing content that no one but your members have access to such as ebooks, you may want to read this guide on how to upload and share documents: Uploading Documents.

If you want something more advanced, like memberships in different levels, I’d probably suggest WooCommerce, as it has extensions mainly for subscription and memberships purposes. See them here.

Please note that you need to have a Business WordPress.com plan in order to upload plugins like this. And these WooCommerce extensions need to be purchased separately.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

    Regards,
    Rose
