Login Frustration – please help?
-
Our designer in Thailand set up our account & blog for us, it looks fabulous but we need to take over the admin. It was all done in our name but we cannot login from here.
We could login the first time we received the login details from wordpress but not since!
We run IE 6
Windows Firewall is off
Norton Security Centre – firewall is off & http://wordpress.com/wp-login.php and http://wordpress.org have been added to be allowed in the privacy areas – that didn’t work so I turned privacy off & it still didn’t work
we have a Belkin Router with a firewall turned on
IE – as above, http://wordpress.com/wp-login.php and http://wordpress.org have been added to be allowed in the privacy areas which are also lowI have rebooted, changed password, double checked cap locks, spelling etc and still all I get is Error: Password is incorrect.
Our designer can get in in Thailand but not me :(
Any suggestions? -

Try this? http://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
You’ll need to use the same email address you designer used. -
ok, thanks I tried that…. the username is ‘admin’ and he used my email address. I get another error message:
Sorry, that user does not seem to exist in our database. Perhaps you have the wrong username or e-mail address? Try again.

I only just set up redtango88 this morning so I could get into this support.
My designer insists that the login I need to use is ‘admin’
Last week when he first set this up I got in with ‘admin’ and the coded password that he sent to me. But since I came back this week, after he had set up the files & the MySQL database etc. it doesn’t work.
I have asked him how come I didn’t get sent the password to my email address if I am the one registered – that doesn’t make sense!

“… after he had set up the files & the MySQL database etc. it doesn’t work.”
What files and MySQL database? That is all done automaticlly, there is nothing to setup when applying and receiveing a WP.com blog.
I note the WP.com urls posted above. But are you sure your’re talking WP.com and not WP.org. WP.org would be hosted on a server you pay for on a domain purchased for your use.

Ok, our designer says….
“When I make changes to the profile and choose a different password, it doesn’t send out updates. I’ve just logged in using admin / password. [There’s a screenshot of the page enclosed.[ It’s not a lost password, it’s your access and security settings that are the problem.”
Our designer did a bunch of work recently and I am not sure how it all fits together I just know that I need to access this area that I can’t get into in order to manage our blog.
If he can log in but I can’t it seems that there must be a problem at my end but I don’t know what else to try.

redtango88 – it’s WordPress on your own server, not on wordpress.com, ask your designer for the proper address!
-
http://wordpress.com/wp-login.php is the address he gave me…. I am checking with him.
I REALLY appreciate getting help on this – thanks for your time.

Donncha – you are absolutely right, he gave me the wrong addrress. I didn’t realise as I had a login screen & not having set any of this up I am unfamiliar with the process.
Thank you all for your time and patience… the frustration is over!

We don’t have access to teh database here at wp.com. if you’re hosted at another site, you need to read teh post labeled “Please read me First” and then head over to the correct site at http://wordpress.org
