Login problems with Opera, and other random problems

No matter how many times I try, I cannot login using Opera. I can do so with IE sometimes, but I hate using it. Other times, it doesn’t even work with IE. Everytime I login using Opera, it says I have entered an incorrect password, which is, of course, the very same password I use to login with IE.

Furthermore, my counter is screwed up like everyone else’s.

Also, the administrative controls are not showing up using Opera (Dashboard, Write, Logout) even though I have them set to show up on my preferences. They do, however, show up when using IE.

I’m having this same problem at work. I was using Firefox there until somehow my tabbing functions became disabled (yes, yes, I’ve checked the preferences, to no avail). So someone suggested Opera because it’s somewhat similar. But I can’t access my Admin functions either.

    Anyone?

You two haven’t mentioned the browser versions you’re using hence I’m wondering if a browser upgrade wouldn’t help. WordPress works very well with these browsers: Firefox 2, Opera 9 and IE 7. If you must use IE then I believe the “fix” is to upgrade your browser to IE 7. (I hate IE too. I use firefox 2.) Here is a thread where others were having similar problems

Now if it turns out that upgrading doesn’t help I think your best bet is to contact Mark through a feedback and ask for his advice. Good luck. :)

for the Opera 9.+ make sure it’s accepting Cookies from both sites: YourBlogName.wordpress.com’ and ‘wordpress.com’ itself.

menu: Tools/Preference/Cookies: Accept cookies [only from the site I visit]

you can also check the cookie accepting status for those particular sites by pressing ‘Cookie’ button at the same dialog: look for site names mentioned above in the ‘Server manager’ list, if they found edit appropriate cookie settings.

sonofspam, if at work you’re connected via some kind of corporative web-proxy which filters HTTP connections but doesn’t filter HTTPS (secure) ones, there may be an issue if that proxy modifies or hides your browser ‘User-Agent’ field.

in this case there’s nothing you can do about it due to dubious authentification procedure implemented in wordpress.com, they check ‘User-Agent’ at the logon which is a grand folly.
