Login to my blog and other questions

    I’m new to wordpress.com and I have a few questions about how things work. I’ve searched the forums and found some great info, but in the essence of time management and my project being due tonight, I thought I might just ask. :)

    1) Do other people have to login to post a comment on my blog?

    Solutions for my idea? Either within WordPress.com or from an outside source?
    2) I would like to create a checklist for users to check off as they complete specific tasks related to my blog (which is a workshop I am giving.) Each user would have their own checklist to know where they have left off in the course. Because the workshop is wholly contained within my blog, I would like to be able to host it there, but I feel this is not possible from what I have read. Is there anything out there that can obtain this goal for me?

    To rephrase, I would like to create one checklist. A user could login to the checklist, make their changes, and upon logging out, the checklist would be saved for that specific user. When they log back in, they will have their own partially complete checklist to continue working off of.

    I really hope that makes sense to somebody! :)

    Thanks so much in advance!

    In order to comment your readers will need to have either OpenID or register a wordpress.com account (no blog required).

    Do you think making you workshop attendees Contributors would work for you?

    Sarah,
    As someone who’s run courses on blogging, using a WordPress blog as a base:
    – I agree that a checklist like this would be useful
    – I didn’t find an easy way of implementing this

    I think I used Edublogs, rather than WordPress.com, to host my course blogs. Students were free to choose their own blogging platform. Some chose WordPress.com, and I recently stumbled across one of the blogs that started during my course, still going years later.

    One of the first assignments was to create a blog. I posted about the assignment, and asked that each student left on a comment on my post linking to her or his blog. I wasn’t able to find any way of making this automatically check a box on a student’s checklist, though.

    Sorry, that was a roundabout way of not helping you very much…

    @Andrew – lol! I think that helps. :)

    @timethief – Making attendees Contributors might work. However, I’m not sure exactly who will attend (it is an open invitation). Maybe I will do as Andrew has done and then possibly have attendees sign up for google docs as well, and share my checklist that way.

    Still a few hours left to research! ;)

    @sarahwalker
    I believe Andrews’s Edublogs idea is a better one.
