  any idea how i remove the logo spot on my static home page?

  I had a look at your WordPress.com site https://newzealandmysteries.wordpress.com/ and I see a logo section at the center.

  If you are on the WordPress.com Premium plan or WordPress.com Business plan, you will have access custom CSS.

  .img.site-logo-image.no-grav {
      display: none;
  }

  You can use this CSS code to hide the logo region. To use this CSS code, first launch your site customizer then click on the CSS tab to access the CSS editor.

  Paste that code and on Publish at the top.

  If you are on the free WordPress.com plan or WordPress.com Personal plan, you cannot use the custom CSS. In that case, you have to use a logo. You can do that but adding an image to your Gravatar account associated with the same email ID as the one used for your WordPress.com site.

  When you add an image to your Gravatar account, it will automatically display on that logo section.

  Tabatha – are you referring to the item I’ve circled in red here?

  

  If so, open your Customizer‘s Theme Options panel and remove your email address there.

  If you’re referring to something else, just let me know.
