Logo not appearing

Hello! I’m having an issue with my logo not appearing. The theme I’m using is Scratchpad. The logo was working fine until recently, however now it’s simply not present. (I haven’t made any adjustments to the CSS, I’m just a free user.)
When I open my customize menu, I simply see the add image box, although the logo is already there. If I remove and re add the logo several times, the image will actually appear as it should (as seen in the image below), but once I save and refresh, it just disappears again. I’ve tried it in both Chrome and Microsoft Edge, to no effect. Any ideas? (Adding a blog title doesn’t do anything either, and ‘header’ images seem to work although that’s not what I’m looking for. As said, the logo used to work just fine.)

    Many thanks!

    Hi,

On a test site with Scratchpad applied I was unable to replicate the results you describe. Using the latest Firefox browser, I was able to add a site logo and a site title, and each of them displayed as expected. For this reason I suspect that the issue might be local, that is, on your end. Have you tried performing the same tasks using an alternate device ?

Someone has previously called for staff attention to the topic, so staff will respond here.

    Hi there,

I can see the logo on your site just fine:

I took that screen shot on your home page, not in the Customizer preview.

Can you check if clearing the browser cache or viewing your site in incognito makes any difference?

I refreshed my cache and now it seems to be working! I don’t understand why if it was just a cache issue, it was still happening when I swapped to a different browser, but whatever the case, I’m just happy that it’s back :D

    Thank you both!

That is strange, @raiichu! Are you still seeing the issue in the other browser? And does clearing the cache there help as well?

No, it all seems to be okay now! I don’t know what it was the other day… Sorry, I feel like I wasted everyone’s time over nothing now. 🙊

I do have another question about the Scratchpad theme, if that’s okay(!) I’ve noticed that when loading the page, the headers will flash up with the default theme font for a few seconds before showing up in the one I actually picked, which is a little annoying. I don’t mind the default font, so I thought I’d just change the headers back to remove the issue, but I can’t see it on my list of fonts.

I made a test site with a fresh theme and found that it’s just called ‘Default Theme Font’, but it’s not in the drop-down list there either. I’ve tried swapping themes on my main blog, but it’s made no difference. How can I change my headings font back to the Default Theme Font?

We used to load a blank page before the content loaded on sites with custom fonts, however, this meant that those viewing the web on slower connections (often mobile) would only see that blank page.

To fix that, we now use the theme’s default font to load the site’s content first. This means that no one is greeted with a blank page. It also means that there will be a flash when the theme’s default font is visible when first loading. We believe this to be a better overall experience for visitors to your site but understand it’s not perfect either.

The team is always looking at better font-loading solutions that will work for all of our users but, for now, this is the default. There is a CSS workaround, but that would only be available on plans Premium and above.

So there’s no way for me to go back to the Default Theme Font now that I’ve changed it?

@raiichu you weren’t wasting anyone’s time. We hadn’t figured out the problem yet, but it did turn out there was a bug that was introduced and fixed quickly, so that’s likely what you saw!

To go back to the default font after having selected a different one, you should see an X next to the current font. Click that, save your changes, and you’ll be all set.

    Cheers!

    Ooh I see, hahaha!

And that’s perfect, thank you very much for all of your help! 😆
