Logo not showing on Independent Publisher 2 theme

The Logo stopped showing on the Independent Publisher 2 theme. This worked fine for 3 years, so I don’t know what changed (I didn’t make any changes). If I open the customizer page, I see that there is no logo set up. But when I save a logo (the same file that was always in my media gallery), and refresh the page, the logo is gone again. It’s as if the settings are not being persisted. Any idea what’s going on?

The workaround to fix the issue on your wordpress.com blog (until the bug is fixed permanently) is: create a new post/page, insert a Site Logo block, select the image as the desired logo and save and publish the post/page. The logo should now be visible across your site. You can delete the post/page after you save it/publish it and the logo will remain visible.
