Logout bug??

I think I have been the victim of a bug, but I’ll let others be the judge.

I was logged in to WordPress.com and began writing a new post for my blog. It was not all that long so I typed it out quickly and pressed the Save button. But instead of saving, I got sent to the login screen. Once I logged in, I couldn’t get back to the post and it was lost.

I observe that WordPress logs me out automatically every now and again, presumably for security reasons, and I am assuming that this automatic logout coincidentally happened to occur sometime while I was writing the post. This somehow meant there were (apparently) no automatic saves and the post was lost because when I finished it I was no longer logged in. Perhaps I responded wrongly to the situation, but it seems to me to be a bug to allow me to keep writing a post after I am logged out.

If I have understood this situation correctly, it seems to me that before we are automatically logged out, any current work should be automatically saved and the option given to stay logged in. If I have understood this wrongly, I would be interested to hear what I did wrong.

    Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Best practice is to do your writing off-line and save a copy locally, then copy/paste into one of the Post forms.

Avoids problems with glitches and ‘bugs’.
