long-form posting problems in wordpress.com

Help needed on long-form posting by WordPress.com beginner. I plan to use my site for publishing a single chapter-length article only. Content historical-biographical. Approx 12 thousand words. Comments from readers with relevant additional data is sought. Because of its length I want to enter the text in a sequence of 4 or 5 shorter segments first before publishing the complete article (Manifest theme). 1) How do I ensure each segment follows the preceding one and does not get added in front (as if a blog)? 2) The article is a WordPerfect document. I have been advised to paste the text segment by segment into Microsoft Windows Live Writer first, and have that text-editor convert each from WordPerfect into appropriate html and then transmit it to my WordPress.com site in correct sequence. Is that what I should do? Any tips on doing that? 3) How do I tag the article to assist web-searchers? Should this be tagged as long-form? 4) Any other helpful support advice on this long-form project would be welcome (step-by-step appreciated).
