looking for a clean theme

    Hello All!

    I’m looking for a theme that has specific requirements.

    First off, it must be a free theme. Please don’t suggest upgrading to a premium package.

    Next, I have a single author blog in mind, so no need for the author’s name on the front page or on individual post pages.

    And I don’t like categories and tags listed for each post summary on the front page either. Too much clutter.

    The other extreme is themes that only list the post title on the front page. Ugh!

    An optional right sidebar as well as footer widget areas would be nice, but not mandatory.

    Does anyone know of such a beast?

    I hope you will like one of them. If not, feel free to change the filter settings – they appear when you click on Find a Theme button – and search again.

    Rest of the things like hiding author name, dates, categories and tags are easier to achieve using custom CSS, but this requires Premium upgrade.

    Hi Again!

    Thanks for the list. Sequential looks promising, even though it’s ostensibly a business theme.

    Does the right sidebar in Sequential appear/disappear automagically just by adding/removing widgets a la Twenty Twelve?

    Hi Elte,

    Thanks for suggesting Escutcheon, but it didn’t fit the bill on several points.

    First, the author’s name is displayed on posts. Next, it uses excerpts which messes up the more tag. I’d have to edit every post that uses the more tag and paste the preamble into the excerpt edit box. What a chore!

    The sidebar only appears on individual posts and pages and not on the front page. My preference would be for the other way round. And it’s a left sidebar. Personally, I think left sidebars don’t look quite right. Like a PC keyboard with the numeric keypad on the left. And I’m left-handed!

    A fine theme otherwise. If I was starting a blog from scratch with all new posts, I’d certainly consider it.
