Looking for a sample WXR file.

  Hi guys,

  I am writing an tool that will import WordPress blogs to another platform and I am looking for a ‘real’ WXR file to test my tool with.

  Currently I have only used the sample file I created (with about 3 articles and 2 comments) and I’d like to see if I can break it with a bigger, more realistic file.

  I have no idea what you’re talking about, but I’m pretty sure you’re in the wrong place. Try over at wordpress.org.

  Sorry for the confusion.

  Basically what I am asking is if somebody would be willing to log in to their WordPress admin interface and click on the ‘Export’ tab. This will let you export a WXR file (which stands for something like WordPress eXtended Rss file), which is just an xml file that contains all of your posts/comments, etc., basically a backup of your blog.

  I would like to test my tool with a ‘real’ blog that has more than 3 posts and see if it breaks.

  Correction: The export feature is under the ‘Manage’ tab.

  Thats quite a bit to ask for, considering Exporting includes other peoples comments without consent, metatags and such.

  Why don’t you just create a scrap blog with more posts. just keep the blog privaet just write jibberish for posts, use whatever tags, and log out and comment, log in. you get the idea.

  Shouldn’t be hard to simulate a large blog for the purpose of testing WXR conversion to other formats (presuming thats wgat you trying to do).

  Are you talking about wordpress.COM files or wordpress.ORG files? There is a difference, you know. If it is the latter, you are in the wrong forum.

  Not suggesting that jessesstory is doing anything wrong here:
  However an export file has the e-mails of your commenters.
  don’t give away your export files if you make them.
  ( ORG or .COM)

  Sorry guys, I didn’t realize that I was asking so much.

  I guess I will have to make my own test file.

  Yeah and I plan on using both .com and .org files.
