Looking for Advice on Migrating My Multilingual Shopify Store to WordPress
-
Hey everyone,
I could really use some guidance on migrating my eCommerce store from Shopify to WordPress (WooCommerce). The site is multilingual, currently available in English, German, and Dutch.
My main goals with the migration are:
- Keeping the customer database
- Preserving order history
- Migrating all products and categories
- Retaining the translations
- Maintaining SEO settings like URLs and metadata
Here’s the site if you want to take a look: https://www.selfgem.com/en
I don’t think it’s a huge site, but I’d love to hear your opinion on that, especially in terms of how complex the move might be.
I’m wondering if there’s a plugin or tool that can handle this type of migration smoothly. Or maybe someone here has gone through a similar process and can share what worked (or didn’t)?
Any help, tips, or service recommendations would be massively appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Yes, it is possible to migrate your Shopify store to WordPress with WooCommerce, though there will likely be some adjustments since the platforms work differently.
If you plan to host your site on WordPress.com, you will need a Business plan or higher to install plugins like WooCommerce. You can also explore services that specialize in migrations. Cart2Cart (https://www.shopping-cart-migration.com/) is a known solution that helps transfer products, orders, and customer data.
Settings like SEO and translations may require additional setup. While some steps can be automated, the process may involve manual configuration as well.
