Looking for blogs to read

  Hello, I’m fairly new to WordPress and I’m trying to find other people’s blogs to read that might have similar content to my own.

  For example, my blog is about living in Manchester UK, so all my posts are related to things happening in and around the city. I’d like to read other blogs that are either about Manchester or are written by bloggers based in or around the North West. Make sense?

  Is there somewhere I can search for other blogs? I’m sorry if that’s a stupid question.

  on the front page of wordpress.com you will tabs for “freshly press” and “tags”.

  http://wordpress.com/#fresh
  http://wordpress.com/#tags

  for example.

  Also, there is a searchbar to type in keywords on the navigator bar.

  Hi dlager,

  Thanks for the advice. I’ve looked at Fresh and Tags but the searchbar doesn’t seem to like me. No matter what I search for it always brings up the same results. Oh well, I must be jinxed. Thanks for the tip. I’ll try it again another day.

  You can also use Google to search for blogs here at WordPress.com
  search string (note there is no space following the colon)

  Also, keep in mind that the search engine only indexes the body text of blog posts, pages, and comments. The blog name, post titles, and post/comment author names are not indexed. http://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpresscom-search/

  Are you aware of this? WordPress.com allows you to geotag your user profile and posts. That means you can assign an earthly location to your account and to each of your posts. http://en.support.wordpress.com/geotagging/

  Thanks Timethief! That’s the second time you’ve helped me out.

  I’d read you could search via Google but I didn’t really understand how. You’re demonstration helped a lot. It’s so simple when you’re shown how.

  I have followed the instructions and geotaged my location. Fingers crossed I did it correctly.

  As for my blog feed being broken – I’m still working on that :-) Although I’m less concerned about the CrazyCrayfish site not working because my main blog is actually ManchesterMeanders.wordpress.com which is working. Hurray!

  When I enabled the geotagging I saw where I could change the link, so hopefully when I submit this message my Gravatar will link to my real site instead.
