Looking for Cheap Alternatives To This Platform

Just wondering what else is out there that I might be missing in research for alternatives, since it’s becoming apparent this company is in no hurry of fixing it’s price plan mistake currently on the pricing table? It’s been over a month and nothing but words. It doesn’t take that long to build plan options.

I’ve got domains in mind to set up on my account after letting some old ones go on my account, and I’m not here to play rip off at $180 a pop for features I don’t need, when all I need is a custom domain, some decent storage and no ads. I know I’m not the only customer with this unasked for dilemma.

This company should at least reinstate the $48 plan until it gets it’s act together on this. It’s highly unprofessional what we’re being put through.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can find out this yourself by comparing several hosting providers. But then you have to take yourself for updates, upgrades, back-ups and security. Your site crashes or you have a problem? Good luck solving this yourself.

That was not what I asked. I’m already researching. Just seeking help along the way.

  • Hi @dtpiixart,

WordPress.com provides managed WordPress hosting, unlike some other budget hosting providers. When it comes to shared hosting, you usually get what you pay for. Here’s a great article on the benefits of managed hosting: https://wordpress.com/blog/2021/05/24/the-best-of-both-worlds-wordpress-com-managed-hosting/

WordPress comes in two flavors: WordPress.com, which you have signed up for here, and self-hosted WordPress.org. The latter is the term used for when you install the WordPress open source software onto other hosting providers, which usually is a manual process.

Here’s a comparison chart between the two: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

While I recognize that the Pro plan isn’t for anyone, we do intend to come out with other offerings in the near future. Please stay tuned to the WordPress.com blog for further plan announcements.

And feel free to reach out again if you have any questions.

Having been here since 2014, I’m well aware of the managed hosting and the new rip off “P:ro” plan which per gb is more expensive than your Business plan is. $1.50 per gb on the Pro, and $3.60 per gb on the Business plan. I’m not trying to get ripped off at $180 a pop for new domains I have in planning to add to my account, and your company is taking entirely too long with it’s side items. Can we stop with the canned statements and this mess fixed so that those us who don’t need plugins or woocommerce can get back to purchasing domains and building small websites please. Thanks!
