Looking for Good Theme for Finance Site
-
Hey, I’m trying to start a new website that’s about finances, stocks, and basically revolves around money. That being said, I’m trying to get a nice-looking theme that’s meant for finance sites, but all of the themes I’ve come across don’t seem to fit what I’m looking for. Anyone know a theme that might help me out here?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey there,
Many thanks for reaching out and happy to help with this.
I think a good place to start would be to know which kind of site you’re looking to emulate? Are you able to provide a URL of any designs that may be of interest or you like?
This will help us to make an accurate suggestion.
Also, do you know what functionality and goals you’re looking to achieve for the site? As above, this may be something that may be built into a theme that has finance in mind.
Also to note, depending on the theme, if it’s one that needs to be installed, along with plugins that provide financial services, a business plan would be required.
Many thanks, and looking forward to hearing from you!

Hey,
This website has a very nice design: https://www.coindesk.com/price/xrp/
Minus the yellow coloring, I really like the coloring of the site.
I’m looking to do a blog and display a lot of data on stocks that a user enters. I want to display things like current price, volume, a 24hr graph, market cap, symbol information, community sentiment. I also want to display a section that shows which stocks I am currently holding in my personal portfolio and some details about that (a lot of this will be custom created and coded by me). I’m looking for a theme that is nice for displaying data and makes it easy to create something like this. I would need pages created dynamically for stocks (since I can’t create a page for every single stock on my own). Any and all pointers and advice are appreciated! Thanks!

Hi! It sounds like the kind of site you’re wanting to set up would be best achieved by using one or more plugins, in addition to finding a theme you like, since themes provide the appearance aspect of a site (overall layout, initial colour scheme), while plugins typically provide the functions (like: showing stocks information, allowing users to input their selection so they choose what they see). Some themes from third parties also come with plugins bundled with them.
In general, you can usually customize a theme’s colour scheme – we have a reference guide for that here:
https://wordpress.com/support/custom-colors/With that in mind, I think it might help you to focus on looking for a theme which has a layout you prefer, since you can usually adjust the colour scheme yourself. The recommended themes we offer on WordPress.com are quite minimalist as they’re intended to be flexible so you can customize the layout within the Site Editor. If you’re looking for a more ‘classic’ theme with a set layout, we do have a few of those too:
https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/classic-theme/However if you’d be using the Business plan here that my colleague
aleonementioned above, it’s also worth looking on WordPress.org which has a large range of free themes:
https://wordpress.org/themes/searchThe example site you linked looks like it isn’t using WordPress, so I don’t know exactly what to suggest comparatively, but I suspect if you look for “finance” themes, or even perhaps “newspaper” or “magazine” themes, you’ll get close to that type of layout.
It’s worth knowing there are other third-party sites where you can purchase WordPress themes which may have additional functions bundled in, but as they would be third-party, they’re not something we are able to provide particular recommendations for.
Functions like the ticker at the top of your example site, or the graphs, aren’t typically included in a theme as far as I’m aware, but can likely be added in using plugins. WordPress.org is the primary repository for the WordPress software and as such it’s where the most free themes and plugins for WordPress are found. Our own plugin search hooks into it! Here’s an example search for ticker plugins:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/search/stock+ticker/I should also note that while the plugins on WordPress.org are free, a lot of them are freemium, which is to say they’re free but their creators offer additional features with purchase via the plugin creator’s site. Taking a look at the plugin search I linked above, it also looks like you can indeed find graph/chart plugins for displaying stock data too!
I also noticed that your example site uses a “mega menu” at the top of the site (the menu which opens up to show both categories and recent news) – that’s also something which you’d likely need to look for as a plugin:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/search/mega+menu/I hope that helps, if you do have any other questions let us know!

Ah, I forgot to mention! If you’re looking for help to get set up, we do offer a service called Built By WordPress.com; it could be useful to look into, depending on your needs:
