Looking for help configuring Goran theme to show blog posts on front page

  Hi. Sorry if this has been covered, but I’ve searched and searched and haven’t found an answer yet.

  I’m trying to configure a blog using the Goran theme (based off the Edin them). What we’d like to do is to use the three most recent blog posts in the “Featured Page” boxes section of the home page. The default settings only seem to allow for static pages to be used, though.

  Could anyone offer any guidance as to how I should go about it? I was thinking I should either edit the template code to display posts instead of pages (but I’m a complete novice at WordPress so I’m not sure where to look), or possibly create pages to show the three most recent posts, and use them in the boxes.

  Hi and welcome! You’re on the right track thinking that you would need to create some custom code to change the way Goran is designed to work—by design, it was setup to feature pages and not posts. However, here at WordPress.com, you do not have the option to edit theme code. The WordPress software itself is open source though, so you can setup a separate hosting account and install WordPress on your own and edit the code there if you would like (the preferred method would be to create a child theme).

  Hi there! It sounds like I’m in the same boat at Norris93, but I have a WordPress.com page. designsimply, how do i know what code to use and where in order to make my Goran theme site into a functional blog?

  I’m sorry it wasn’t more clear! You do not have the option to change the featured pages into featured posts here at WordPress.com. A change like that would require a WordPress.org setup and custom code such as a child theme.
