Looking for minimalist theme resembling www.brettwestonarchive.com

    I love Brett Weston’s photography and also happen to feel his archive website design would suite my art. Have put together a few WordPress websites, so I think I should be able to create something like

    http://www.brettwestonarchive.com

    Looked through many theme collections including wordpress.com/themes, but can’t find a theme with

    1) a simple full-frame slideshow on the (light) home page
    2) a simple menu on top of home page: about, galleries, images, resources, etc

    (Of course the galleries and image pages could have a different design.)

    Hi there, I don’t see that you have a site hosted here at WordPress.com, but I took a look at the site you reference and they are using the Skeleton Theme.

    Thanks very much thesacredpath. I like your photos of the West.

    I installed the Skeleton Theme and can see quite a bit of “customization” will be needed to get the look of http://www.brettwestonarchive.com. Can you tell me in general terms what I will need to do?

    I created a static front page and loaded a single image, but to get the simple slide show on the front page, will I need to install some sort of widget and use that in place of the image? Ditto for Portfolios and Images pages? Also, how do I get the more designed look of the menu? Does that mean editing the css file?

    I’ve done my share of HTML hacking but not really sure where to start here. In the past (distant) I found a WP theme that I liked and basically stuck with it.

    From the front page source code of http://www.brettwestonarchive.com, the page is using the royal slider plugin, which is not longer available for download.

    I’ve checked out a number of other slider plugins and (once again) cannot find something that approaches the simplicity and elegance of this website. I don’t want thumbnails, nor do I need large arrows over the image. Just the image, small < > arrows lower right. Any ideas – there are literally 1000’s of slider plugins!
