Looking For Solid Advice From A Staff Member About The Mature Content Policy

Hi Everyone!
I’m really hoping to get some good advice from a Staff member who honestly knows the limits of the Mature Content policy in regards to linking to sites that carry NSFW content.
In the past I have had my account suspended and almost lost access to be able to build any website due to that I think I was linking to some websites that were considered to be “paid” video websites. At that time I didn’t realize this was against policy. That Mature Content policy page is not very clear on things. So I have been fortunate that one of you kind Staff members back then worked with me to get my account reinstated. I said thank you then, and I say it once more, thank you. I’ve been on this account since 2014… 10 years now… and will probably be on it until I die lol.
So moving on from that. I recently purchased a new domain here at dtprojktz.com that I am working to build a directory of curated content on. This content includes any useful or interesting websites, blogs, and other digital online content (ebooks for example). I am also curating social media accounts.
Social media is playing a big part into my curation practice in regards to finding content to curate and link to.
We all know that the main social networks (X, Facebook, Reddit, Mastodon, Instagram, and Tumblr) has NSFW content in varying degrees of what could be considered mature content.
What I need to know basically is this: Are social media accounts that carry mature content considered in any way against the Mature Content policy in regards to linking to them, in a directory format here on the WordPress.com servers? I don’t believe that these would be considered a violation for linking to, as these are not paid sites like P*rnhub, and similar would be. If I were to openly link to any of these types of accounts on these social media platforms, will this in anyway endanger my website, or my account as a whole, if for some reason some random person decided he or she didn’t like what I am publishing on my website and reports it?

I meant to add that most likely due to the nature and format of my new website, no images, or very few would be used in linking to these social network accounts whether they contain NSFW content or not, but if so, I would probably censor them in some way on the website.

Hi David, I’m not staff, but have added the MODLOOK tag for staff attention, though given past forum threads on similar topics you might not get the solid advice you seek.
The Mature content support guide is pretty clear on linking policy as well, in case you haven’t seen it.

The points below on that page are where my focus is in questioning:
Post links or ads to adult-oriented affiliate networks, such as sexually explicit site signups;
Post links, text, or images promoting or advertising escort or erotic services;
Post images of extreme violence or gore. Exceptions may include posts which relate to world events, and which have associated context or commentary;
So for example, if I linked to a social media account on X who happens to be someone who has an OnlyFans page, I’m not believing that their X social media page itself falls under any of the points above, but because they may have a link to their OnlyFans page, would that cause an issue? I would be linking to a social media account, and not directly to their content on the OnlyFans platform. But what if they present NSFW content on their social media page? Is that against the rules to link to?
These are things that need to be more clear, because it’s really sketchy say mature content is allowed, but this, that, or the other is up to discretion of whatever staff member may pick up a random report on… and we all know that different people have different ideas of what is “explicit” and what isn’t.
We definitely need more clarification on what exactly is allowed and what isn’t. That policy is too wide open for interpretation.

Also one more idea I have in this project is to publish a monthly personal magazine, or zine for short (pdf). If I do that, and just decide to publish any collected web addresses to social media accounts that may or may not contain NSFW content in the magazine, and just give the magazine away via a download on my website with a warning that it may contain guidance toward some adult content, would this be a more suitable choice, rather than placing direct links on the website itself?
