Looking for theme with fix width and generation of blog index page

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello

I’ve searched through series of reviews for a theme that does the following:
    – No sidebar for pages and posts
    – Full width use with option to add pictures within posts
    – Automatic generation of post index page
    – Customisable color of page header text and font size.
    – Customisable menu with sub menu items (pull down lists)

    Modern minimalistic style.

    Any suggestions?

    Regards
    Peter

    Hi there!

If you’d like the featured image to take a prominent position at the top of the site, Independent Publisher may be a good option: https://wordpress.com/themes/independent-publisher/.

Or Twenty Sixteen can be configured without the sidebar and seems like a possible good fit: https://wordpress.com/themes/twentysixteen/.

If not, I’ve sorted the themes showcase to display themes that are one column, responsive, for blogging so you can take a look and see what catches your eye: https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/blog+one-column+responsive-layout/.

If you find a theme you’re interested in and have any questions about it in particular, pop back in and let us know! :)

Regarding the post index page question, do you mean a Sitemap? The information on this page can be used for any site on WordPress.com to setup a sitemap: https://en.support.wordpress.com/sitemaps/.

Let me know if you have any questions!

    Two questions on TwentySixteen,
    – where can I disable the side bar?
    – Is it possible to use the full width for text instead of the large margin on the left?

The above I my two major requirements for a theme. I would like to be able to use the full width of the ‘canvas’ for blog text and pictures.
Also a page template that automatically generate a list of published blogs, like the archive widget in the sidebar , but again on a full width basis.

    Regards
    Peter

Is there a ‘full width’ filter option when browsing the themes?
There seems to be different options depending on when I’m logged in or not.
Example at twenty twelve template when not logged in , on the right it shows different each filter option, one being full width, when selecting that the filter in search results does not show this filter option.
Also when logged in I do not see the list of them characteristics as show on the right in the twenty twelve theme demo view.
