Losing revisions

Every time I sign on to my WordPress, I am losing my previous revisions. It is frustrating that I must re-post information to each page and is impossible to keep track of. Is there any way to stop WordPress from deleting my daily revisions? Please help!

If the post was created on the dashboard of your own blog at Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New then you ought to be able to recover a lost post or page from revisions if needs be.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-revisions/
See also if applicable > restoring from trash http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/#restoring-from-trash

(If you are referring to a Page then see here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-revisions/)

Always create your posts on the dashboard of your own blog at
Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New

Use an offline blog editor so you have backups on your own computer http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/

Thanks for responding. The problem is that several days of revisions disappear, so I can only retried posts from 2 weeks ago or 2 days ago, but nothing in between. Since wordpress only saves 25 revisions, does it automatically discard the other revisions when space is used up?

Only 25 revisions are retained. However, there is another issue that may be the cause of this so I’ll tag this thread for Staff to look into this for you. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Thanks a lot! I have asked my students to use the wordpress website to collect classroom assignments, only to find they have disappeared! I am having to repost assignments to pages and re-upload media items frequently. Also, widgets spontaneously move around to the place they were in previous revisions. It is very tiring that the wordpress site is not functioning correctly! I cannot afford to let my students languish while the wordpress site has a mind of its’ own… Please help!

Staff will help like I said above. They will help as soon as they work their way forward through threads that were tagged for their attention before this one. It’s in your best interest not to post again until they do because if you do the timestamp moves forward on the thread and it takes longer to get their help.

Thank you for your assistance. I will not post or revise anything else until I hear from WordPress staff.

I’d like to assist here, but I think I need a better understanding of what you’re trying to do.

When I go to your blog at mrprong.wordpress.com, I see only one post and three pages. There are no draft posts.

Revisions aren’t intended to be permanent files, but are just a reflection of changes to a post. If you are updating your blog with new content, you really should be posting new posts, not revising a single one and relying on revisions for the previous content. You can always make previous posts private if you don’t want them to appear later.

Are you publishing new posts each time you have a new assignment? Are the students using a contact form to submit assignments, or do you want them to post their materials on the site?

My guess is that there may be a better way of accomplishing what you’re trying to do, but I’m not quite clear on what that is yet. :)
