I have installed wordpress on the iPage hosting site. I have moved all the files I wanted to the new version of wordpress
and now want to delete this site. There is message that comes up that says my domain will be lost forever. Does this just mean in relation to wordpress.org?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello,
I see you’ve already deleted visionoflandart.wordpress.com. The warning message you saw was referring to that as the domain. Since deleting a WordPress.com site is permanent, that domain is no longer available for use by you or anyone else. -

Thanks for making contact . Could I get you to clarify you statement please. The domain name with the wordpress.com suffix is what I have lost? The visonoflandart.com.au domain is mine and wasn’t supplied by wordpress. Ta!
Grant.

Hi Grant,
Yes, just the domain name with the wordpress.com suffix is lost.Hi nelsoncollins90,
I’m sorry to tell you that once a blog is deleted, it’s gone for good: https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/You may be able to recover some of the content using Google cache: https://en.support.wordpress.com/deleted-posts-and-pages/
If you have further questions, please start a new post as that makes it easier to provide assistance.

Hi there Micawbr, it seems that the domain name is indeed lost. If I try googling that domain or even a variation on it, the only hits I get are for the deleted site, not my new wordpress site hosted by ipage. I will have to work how to associate my domain name ‘ visionoflandart.com.au’ with my new web site. Any suggestions?

Hi Grant,
The problem seems to be that visionoflandart.com.au hasn’t been registered yet. When I looked up your domain name, I could not find any registration details. The places I went both said the domain was available for me to register. I suggest that your first step is to go back to iPage and see why they haven’t registered your domain.Once that’s resolved, you can proceed with setting up your site, adding content, promoting it through social media, participating in relevant forums and so forth.
Please note that this particular forum is for sites hosted here on WordPress.com. Since you’ve moved to iPage, the best place to go for additional WordPress assistance is the WordPress.org support forum: https://wordpress.org/support/
The problems that users have (and the solutions) are usually quite different which is why the two forums are separate. If you don’t have a username there, you’ll need to register before posting. Sorry Micawbr,
Thanks for getting back to me. I won’t bother you guys again. Thanks also for your advice on the Domain not be registered. It is now, (thought it was doh). That is so confusing about wordpress.com and wordpress.org, I assumed like many people I guess that they were affiliated somehow and perhaps they are but operate as separate entities. Now you can back to dealing with the right people!! LOL.
Kind regards,
Grant.
