Loss of image quality after upload

  Hi all,

  I’m clearly losing image quality when I upload to WordPress. I’ve looked around various forums, tried plug-ins — nothing’s worked. So, any help would be greatly appreciated!

  If you are referring to a site hosted by wordpress.com, that’s most commonly a result of not optimising the image for the web first, presizing the image to fit the space you want to use it in prior to uploading it, and/or not complying with the image dimensions specified for the theme you use.

  However, the site linked to your username is devoid of blogger created content https://mildlyrelevantthoughts.wordpress.com/ so that compels me to ask you this: What is the URL starting with http:// of the site you are referring to?

  Thanks for the quick response! Sorry, my profile was wildlly out of date. It’s joebaur.com (should be updated now).

  I did just try presizing to 620x width and it does look much better in editing. Yet, after updating, it looks the same in the published post as before. I also liked having the ability for readers to open a larger image if they clicked on the image.

  That site is not hosted here. We provide support only for wordpress.COM hosted sites and that one is not among them. Our support docs do not apply to (1) local installs of wordpress.ORG software on your own server or (2) wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting, and we do not provide support for them at wordpress.COM. You are posting to the wrong support forum.

  WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums.   As you are referring to a site that is not hosted here, if you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right-hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.
