loss of published post

  I published my last post at the end of July, and know this happened as it was viewed by my tutor and a friend. I have gone into my blog last night and that post appears to be only in draft form, and is not the final version. I would like to know how the published version has dissappeared and if it can be retrieved. Hope you can help otherwise I have a lot of extra work to do. Kath D

  Unfortunately, as you can see from all the other threads on the “missing post” tag, this is a known bug with no cure. You can try looking for different revisions in your history.

  Just be sure not to EVER use the New Post button on the grey admin bar, but instead always go to the Dashboard->Posts->Add New page to create your new posts. That at least has the Autosave active.

  Thanks for your input, it is disappointing that it is an on going problem. this would indicate that all work needs to be copied into a different document as backup if needed to be used at a later date.

  If and only if the post was created on the dashboard of your own blog at Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New then you ought to be able to recover a lost post or page from revisions if needs be.

  But if the post was created here http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ there is no means of recovery as the auto-save is not functioning there.

  Always create your posts on the dashboard of your own blog at
  Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New
  The auto-save works there and the post will be Standard post format unless you change it.

  Do not create posts here > http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ where the auto-save is not working and where you are creating an Aside post format.

  Use an offline blog editor so you have backups on your own computer http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/
