Lost 2 Factor codes
-
Hey there, i am trying to login to my account and i had to reset my old phone that had my google authenticator attached to my wordpress.com account. I was using wordpress.com to activaite jetpack plugin on my wordpress.org sites.
I need assistance verifying my account so i can login to my account.
The https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery did not work for me because i do not have any paid wordpress.com domains since i develop using the custom wordpress.org method.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Some Jetpack solutions are here http://jetpack.me/support/
Others are in the Jetpack support forum at WordPress.org
http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack
However, if you can’t find help at either one then you can file a Jetpack support ticket here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/?jetpack=needs-serviceIf you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there.
https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.

Hi, firstly, this forum is for WordPress.com stuffs. However, you might use the Google Authenticator app again (probably with a backup code). Even there are some tricks to disable the Authenticator plugin of a self-hosted site to skip the 2-step verification. See here details: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-google-authenticator-how-can-i-get-access-to-my-blog-when-i-loose-my-phone
Use those tricks at your own risk. And keep a full backup of your site before doing any such trick.

I understand the difference. I am trying to reset the 2-factor authenticator for my wordpress.com account so i can reset it for my new device. I have a wordpress.org account too but happened to sign into jetpack as my wordpress.com account.
Thanks for the how-to link too, seems like a pretty easy work around.
Appreciate the replies guys. I need to speak with or contact a wordpress.com staff so i can get it reset with some other method of verification.

Please complete the form for account recovery at this link https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery and submit it to the Account Recovery Staff so they can contact you by email ie. not on these public support forums which are available to everyone with internet access.
-
I filled it out and am not able to complete that form that you linked timethief because i have none of those three options to complete the form..
Do you have a transaction ID? What’s this?
Do you have an activation URL or key? What’s this?
Do you have two factor authentication codes?
-
Go ahead and fill out the form to the best of your ability, including the correct username, email address, and site, then submit what you have so that the Account Recovery team can work with you from there.
-
Thanks Supernovia, i’ve filled it out a few times with 0 reply or emails to my chosen accounts.
-
The Account Recovery Staff usually have a backlog so please do not expect an instant response from them. We provide as much information as we can by submitting to them once only. Then we wait patiently for them to reply via the email address we registered our username account with.
-
Not a problem, thanks for the replies, i wasn’t sure if my form was even submitted since there was some italic text that lead me to believe it was not going through.

some italic text that lead me to believe it was not going through
Will you provide a screenshot please? You can use http://snag.gy/ to share screenshots and link to them here.
-
If the italic text suggests that you reset the password, you should still be able to click submit anyway. Otherwise, let us know what the italic text says. Thanks!

It says if you still have trouble, resubmit the form below. Can you go ahead and click “Recover My Account” again?
-
I have tried multiple times without response. Thanks for the continued support you guys!!

You will need to complete these steps:
1. Fill out the form using correct username, email address, and site. Submit the form.
2. You will see a message in italics telling you to just recover by email. Ignore that, scroll down, and submit the form again.
When you have completed both of those steps, if you’d like to write back here, I’d be happy to check to see if we did indeed receive your submission. We have not as of yet.
Thanks for your patience on this, and thank you in advance for completing both of those steps.
