Lost ‘About’ page template from Outland theme. Reset does not work.
-
Hi, i created a new page template and before I could give it a name, Wp called it About. This action overwrote the theme’s About template. I followed the instructions to reset the template but as I was the author of the new template, I was not able to reset it. I only had 2 options which were edit or delete.
The page’s contents are still there but not the template. It has been removed from my Outland template list.
How do I restore just one template without restoring the entire theme which will apparently lose the changes I have made to the rest of the theme. (I have since upgraded to Business to get full back up. I did not know. I did not have back-ups in my Premium plan.)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello @maureengoshea! I’d be happy to assist you with this.
You can delete templates that you’ve created yourself. However, it’s not possible to delete the standard templates that come with your theme.
From what I understand, it seems like you’re trying to restore a custom template you created. If that’s the case, I just wanted to mention that custom templates can’t be reset or individually restored once they’re removed.
Additionally, I’d like to mention that you have the option to restore a previous version of your site from a backup. If that sounds like something you’d like to try, you can follow these steps:

Please feel free to share more details about what you’re trying to achieve. If you need to share any sensitive information, you can also email us directly at help@wordpress.com, and we’ll be happy to assist you further from there.

Thank you so much for the help.
The real issue is that the Outland About template is no longer in my Outland Template folder. It has disappeared! I cant find it to reset it.
Strangely the new template I created which was inadvertently created with the name About was placed in the Outland folder by WP rather than where it should have been, in my own template folder. It appeared to overwrite the original About template, which made no sense.
I don’t mind losing the template I created And which I deleted, but I do mind losing the template.
I will look at restoring a back up as per your suggestion. Many thanks for your help.

Thank you so much for following up. Yes I have sorted out the issue. I have had numerous other issues but decided I needed to persevere and sort them out myself as part of the learning curve. :-) Also invested in WordPress for Dummies which has been very helpful. And added several plug-ins. Very happy with progress to date.
