Lost Access to Account and Can’t Recover it

  Hey everyone, I’m not too familiar with how WordPress works but I need some help with my previous account that I use for university.

  Recently, tried logging back in to post something but the link it would send me to login would immediately come up as invalid or expired. I then tried to log in with username and password but it told me that my account has become inactive(?). So I checked out the account recovery form and put in all the details, I used the account activation link/key I first got when I made the account to verify that the account is mine but it keeps telling me that “The activation key does not appear to be valid.” even though I’m literally copying and pasting it there.

  Anyone know what I can do to recover my account? I need to access it for my university projects and it seems like the site is still up as I can still see my previous posts.
