Lost access to another account
-
I have been contracted to resolve some issues with a website for a church: Skyline Baptist Church in Killeen, TX.
The account they used to have was skylineconnect.org
There was a bad separation of a previous employee and we believe that he may have sabotaged the account. I’m told, by the registrar (wild west domains) that the domain was purchased through WordPress.com and that we will need to contact you to get our DNS restored to what it was before 12/20/2016.
Right now, I can’t get access to the account via the e-mail address we believe it to be registered to ((email visible only to moderators and staff)) In the interim, we have had to set up a new domain to keep business running. If there is anything you can do to help us, please let me know.
You can reach me at (email visible only to moderators and staff) or (email visible only to moderators and staff). If you do business via phone, please call me at [phone number redacted by mod]
Thank you!

Hi Chris,
That domain is currently suspended because the email address used when registering the domain was never verified. Only the account that owns a domain can change that address, so you will first need to gain access to the account involved.
You can find our account recovery process outlined here:
If you have access to the payment information used for that domain, you’ll be able to obtain a transaction ID from PayPal which you can use to verify account ownership.
Retrieving a PayPal Transaction ID
Once you’ve verified ownership you can change the account and domain emails to an active email address and, once you verify the domain contact info change, the domain will work again.

Hi and thanks for the quick response.
I am doing everything I can to determine where the payment for this account is coming from. We got an e-mail on 11/3/2016 stating that $18.00 would be charged on 1/3/2017. However, our DNS was changed on 12/20/2016 by someone else and we haven’t received any e-mails on this domain since then.
Is there anything you can tell me about whether this was paid for by PayPal or credit card or even what the unverified e-mail address is?
This little blunder is going to end up costing us a couple of thousand dollars, if I can’t get the domain back, as we will have to replace our street sign, all business cards for five staff members, and all other printed literature with our e-mail addresses and websites on it.

Hi Chris,
It looks like I didn’t provide the username for the account that owns the domain. The username account you will need access to is skylinebaptistchurch
I cannot give any more information to that to anyone but the verified owner – information on past payments is what you would need to provide to us to verify your ownership, so we cannot provide that information to you.
Were the receipts for past renewals of the domain printed out and filed for tax and accounting purposes? Then you should be able to find a transaction ID on those receipts that you can use to verify ownership on the account recovery form.
You can see the current registrant email in the public Whois details for this domain:
https://whois.icann.org/en/lookup?name=skylineconnect.org
That email wasn’t verified, leading to the domain’s suspension, but in order to change that email you will need to be logged in as the skylinebaptistchurch username that was used to buy that domain.
