Lost access to my account

  I’ve suddenly lost access to my WordPress account which is connected to my online portfolio. The username, email address and password I usually use are not working and I’m worried there has been a change to the administration settings. I have created a new account to submit this ticket.

  When I go to reset the password I am told my email address doesn’t exist/ ‘we weren’t able to find a user with that login information.’

  I also can’t complete the Account Recovery Form because the wordpress account was originally set up by someone I am no longer in contact with (and he received the verification emails). I do have one activation URL but the recovery form won’t let me submit it.

  Any advice would be really appreciated!

  Hello

  My original username was ‘sasha’ and the URL is sashawilliamson.com. Unfortunately, the domain has expired and I need to switch it to my new one – that’s how I noticed the problem with accessing my account.

  Hello, I’m sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your website. However, your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted with GoDaddy, which is also where the domain is registered.

  Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers.   https://wordpress.org/support/ is a great resource for sites using the open source WordPress.org software, and you can find support for that at: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
